Les was born in London England in 1930. He and his wife Joyce emmigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1965 and raised their family in the scenic Hockley Valley.
Les was always a gifted story teller who entertained family and friends regularly with his embellished versions of classic fairy tales and a host of made up words that he used to make every day conversation more colourful.
In England he played guitar in a band with friends. The love of his life, Joyce sang in the same band. Les also wrote humorous poetry and used his talent as an artist to not only do house and garden designs but to frequently do caricatures of people.
His first novel became a labour of love during his retirement years and was nearing completion when he suffered a severe stroke which robbed him of his wonderful communication skills.
Happily with the help of his family, the original version of The Fo'c'sle Door was published in 2013 and he was able to hold a copy in his hand prior to his death in 2016.
It is a long and captivating mystery involving adventures in smuggling, murder and the supernatural and met with great reviews from those who read it. However, it was never actively marketed.
Les' children have since re-published their Dad's book as a trilogy. The Ryeport Redemption is an opportunity to share their Dad's imagination, story telling skills and dedication with the world in honour of his memory
